Meet Dr. J. Caleb Gardner, O.D.
A Hometown Doctor with a Heart for Greenville
For Dr. Caleb Gardner, practicing optometry in Greenville isn’t just a career—it’s a homecoming. A 2008 graduate of the UAB School of Optometry, Dr. Gardner returned to his roots to provide full-scope eye care to the community that raised him. His journey into eye care began at Troy State University, where a local mentor inspired him to fall in love with the profession.
Today, Dr. Gardner is dedicated to ensuring his rural Alabama neighbors receive the highest standard of care without having to travel far from home.
Whether he’s managing complex ocular health or helping a child see the chalkboard for the first time, Dr. Gardner approaches every patient with the same superpower he’s always wished for: the ability to help others heal.

Meet Dr. Samara Perryman, O.D.
Originally from Trussville, Dr. Samara Perryman fell in love with the Greenville community and has since become a cornerstone of local eye care. After earning her Biomedical Sciences degree from Auburn University, she graduated from the UAB School of Optometry with high distinction.
Dr. Perryman is a leader in her field. She was a member of the 2024 AOA Leadership Institute and has been recognized with the Award of Excellence in Pediatric Optometry—a testament to her skill in making our youngest patients feel right at home.
Dr. Perryman’s passion for service extends far beyond the exam room. Whether she’s serving on the ALOA Board of Directors or working with the Rotary Club of Greenville, she is dedicated to making Alabama a better place to live and see.
